Diamond League – Two events will be held in Budapest in August

Two of the Diamond League’s events made it into the program of the second stop of the Hungarian Grand Prix Series.

During the last month of the summer, many Chinese Diamond League events could not be organized according to the original schedule, therefore some of the athletes do not have enough chances to qualify for the series final in September as they need to participate in at least four Diamond League events.

In view of this, four events had to be reorganized: the men’s long jump took place on July 4 in Stockholm, but the rest will be held as part of Continental Tour Bronze competition programs. The women’s javelin and shot put will take place in Bern for instance.

The second stop of the Hungarian Grand Prix series due to be held in Budapest at the Lantos Mihály Sports Centre is part of the Continental Tour Bronze and the Hungarian capital will host two Diamond League events – the women’s shot put and the men’s discus.

According to World Athletics, these replacement competitions will be worth the same amount of points towards the Diamond League and world rankings, but the financial rewards will be different.
